The GPS built for your license-free car
By the TacTac editorial team · Updated June 8, 2026
Waze and Google Maps are not made for license-free cars. TacTac is the first GPS dedicated to light quadricycles: filtered routes, voice guidance and a realistic ETA at 45 km/h.
TacTac is a GPS built for license-free cars: it automatically leaves out motorways and expressways banned for L6e light quadricycles, works out a realistic travel time based on 45 km/h and offers tailored voice guidance, where Waze or Google Maps reason at 90 km/h.

Why your current GPS does not work
Mainstream GPS apps were designed for regular cars driving at 90 to 130 km/h. For a license-free car limited to 45 km/h, the consequences can be serious.
Dangerous routes
Waze and Google Maps work at 90 km/h and regularly send you onto motorways or roads banned for license-free cars.
Fine of up to €1,500
Driving on an expressway in a license-free car is an offence that carries a fine of up to €1,500.
Completely wrong ETA
The "2h30" shown by Google Maps becomes 4h in reality: the ETA is worked out at 90 km/h while you drive at 45.
The TacTac solution
TacTac is the only GPS designed from start to finish for license-free car drivers. Every feature answers a real problem.

Routes filtered for license-free cars

Frequently asked questions
Where can you drive a license-free car?
A license-free car (L6e light quadricycle) drives on local, secondary and ordinary main roads, as well as in town. It is banned from: motorways, expressways and most fast roads at 110 km/h, along with certain ring roads and bypasses. A nuance: access to a fast road can vary depending on a local prefectural order, shown by a sign. The basic rule: if the road requires you to keep at least 80 km/h, a license-free car has no place there.
Which license-free cars does it work on?
TacTac is compatible with every L6e category license-free car (light quadricycle) limited to 45 km/h: Citroën Ami, Fiat Topolino, Aixam, Ligier, Microcar, Mobilize Duo and all other brands.
